This online news publication is two years today, the 9th day of December, 2009, having started publishing on the 9th day of December, 2007.
Our concept of non profit making e-news is premised on the need to adequately empower the reading public with credible news information, free of all charges.
This concept is a reflection of our belief that news information production should be better handled by not for profit Foundations, if such productions must be free from encumberances of undue censorships.
The past twenty-four months have posed challenges, principal of which is finance. Even though network members are volunteers, funding is nonetheless needed for operation imperatives. Finance at the moment is being solely provided by our Publisher/Editor-In-Chief, Mr. Chidi Anthony Opara.
Ironically, offers of funding have so far come only from channels we do not consider credible and so we have always rejected and will continue to reject such offers.
This second year anniversary would have ordinarily called for elaborate celebration in view of the impact we have made so far, judging by feedbacks from authoritative sources like Feedburner, Google Analytics, etc.
If we may ask, why celebrate? when in our two years of operation, we have witnessed the assasination of atleast three Journalists, with the assasins yet to be brought to the law, illegal arrest and detention of two online news publishers and illegal closure of a private television channel.
We cannot indulge in elaborate celebration in an atmosphere in which we cannot publicly mention the location of our operation base for security reason, in which individual reporters cannot sign reports with their bylines and in an atmosphere in which our Publisher/Editor-In-Chief cannot visit his country home during festive periods for same reason.
