News Release: M.K.O. Comes Alive

The immortal spirit of the winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, Bashorun M.K.O. Abiola comes alive in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on July 7, 2010 as the Coalition of Democrats Against Rigging (CODAR) sets the city aglow to commemorate the 12th Anniversary of the controversial death of the symbol of democracy in Nigeria.

The Coalition, which cuts across political parties, civil society groups and the labour movement, is also using the occasion to press for free, fair and credible elections in 2011 for which a fresh digitalized voter register is a pre-condition.

The celebration of M.K.O. Abiola on July 7 will start with a motorcade procession from West African Breweries at Lafenwa from 10am to Ake Palace Ground where the rally for free and fair elections starts at 11am prompt.

Among speakers and guests at the event are: Chief Olusegun Osoba, Dr. Joe Okei-Odumakin, Mr. Olasupo Ojo, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Alhaji Adegbenga Kaka, Mr. Remi Bakare, Ogbeni Lanre Banjo, Asiwaju Bisi Adegbuyi, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Alhaji Rauf Aregbesola, Mr. Lekan Abiola, among others.
