News Report: Nigerian President May Face Protest Votes In The South-West

President Goodluck Jonathan
Members of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the south-west may organize protest votes against the Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is likely to get the party's presidential candidacy in the forthcoming presidential election, chidi opara reports' investigation have revealed.

The anger of the party members arose from the recent take over of Ekiti and Osun states by the Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN), following the verdicts of the Court of Appeal siting in Ilorin, Kwara state capital and Ibadan, capital city of Oyo state.

Investigation have shown that since after the two verdicts, party members have been asking their leaders why a party in power at the federal level cannot help its state chapters to retain power with federal might. These members reportedly argued that cases between PDP and ACN members in Lagos and Edo states where ACN is in power are always favourable to ACN members due to the interference of the governors. These arguements, we gathered, usually leave party leaders defeated.

Checks by chidi opara reports indicated that these angry party members have mandated their leaders to communicate their grievances to the PDP national leadership and the President. The party's national leadership and the President, according to them, should act fast to redeem the party in the south-west or face protest votes in the 2011 presidential election. It is not yet known if this message have been officially communicated.

After the Ekiti state verdict, the ousted governor, Segun Oni described ACN's victory as that from the Judiciary. Ousted governor of Osun state, Olagunsoye Oyinlola's spokesperson after the Osun state verdict said, "we note that the judgement went as predicted by ACN, which in the last couple of days innudated the media with what was going to be".

unconfirmed information at the disposal of chidi opara reports indicated that the ACN uses its control of some influential Nigerian media and its influence in the activists community to blackmail some Judges whose family members are involved in one form of shady business or the other into delievering judgements that are favourable to it.
