The Youth Anti-Corruption League had petitioned EFCC, urging it to, among other accusations to investigate the sale of a federal government owned skyscrapper in Lagos to the former speaker's father, Chief Alani Bankole, whom the petitioners alleged acted on his son's behalf.
EFCC had sent invitation to Dimeji Bankole to come for questioning, which the former speak did not honour. The anti-corruption commission made efforts to arrest him last Friday, but could not.
Dimeji Bankole had promised to appear before EFCC by late afternoon today, but the Commission acting on "Intelligence" that the immediate past Speaker had plans to leave the country early today arrested him.
A highly placed EFCC contact had whispered to chidi opara reports last week that "Dimeji Bankole is planning to run away"
