News Report: Boko Haram Threat Sends Nigerian Christian Preacher Into Exile

A Nigerian christian preacher, Pastor Sunday Igbaloju Peters of  the Truth Transformation Centre, 23 Fedearl Low Cost Housing Estate in Bauchi, Bauchi state have been sent into exile on account of a threat by Boko Haram to kill him anywhere in Nigeria. Pastor Peters, chidi opara reports gathered authoritatively is currently seeking asylum in a European country.

Boko Haram, an Islamic fundamentalist group have in recent times organized series of bombing in some parts of Northern Nigerian and Abuja, Nigeria's capital city. The group which appears to have overwhelmed Nigeria's Security, recently released a list of prominent Nigerians whom it said it would kill. The list includes Nigerian Vice-president, Mr.Namadi Sambo.

Pastor Peters' problem started when on 8th February, 2009, he reported the unlawful activities of the group to the Divisional Police Headquarters in Dutseri Tanshi, Bauchi, Bauchi state.

On the 19th of March, 2009, chidi opara reports learned, a member of Boko Haram who called himself Ahmed visited Pastor Peters in his church and threatened that his group would kill the pastor anywhere in Nigeria. He further informed him that his photograph and details of his movement is with the hit men of the group.

On the 20th of March, 2009, this development was reported to the Police in Dutseri Tanshi Divisional Headquarters. The Police.according to an "Investigation Report", obtained by chidi opara reports, with reference number CR.3000/BS/DTD/VOL.2/330, dated 28th April, 2011 and signed by one ASP Haruna Muhammed, confirmed among other things that "the Boko Haram sect has targeted and marked the said Pastor Sunday for assassination to revenge the death of their leader". This report went further to conclude that "the sect is affiliated to Al Qaeda and currently active in 32 Nigerian states".
