The
Campaign for Democracy (CD), South-East Region has called on security agents to
collaborate to ensure optimal security within the zone.
This was contained in a statement
issued to newsmen by CD in Onitsha, Anambra.
The statement was signed by Dede
Uzor A. Uzor, Chairman, CD South-East Region.
``CD is calling on the Police, SSS,
Civil Defense, Army and other special security units to work together to break
the criminal syndicate network in the zone.
``We are urging South-East governors
to release a special fund through their monthly security vault to motivate the
gallant officers in the security agencies in order for them to discharge their
duties efficiently and professionally.
``The motivation would go a long way
to ensure that there is a crime-free Christmas and New Year celebration in the
zone,’’ it said.
The statement further said that the
governors in the zone need to do more; adding that they should go beyond buying
of vehicles alone.
``The human aspect of the security
job should not be neglected since the human aspect is the driving force of
other factors responsible for effective crime fighting in the zone.
``CD sincerely believes that with collaboration,
motivation and effectiveness of security personnel; the zone could achieve
kidnap-free Christmas and New Year,’’ it said.
