News Release: Andy Uba Group Decries PDP Disregard Of Court Order

The Andy Uba Support Forum strongly condemns in its entirety, the purported suspension of Distinguished Senator Andy Uba from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in defiance of a subsisting court order. The leadership of the party has made it a point of duty to abuse the rule of law by selecting court orders to obey otherwise how do we explain a situation where In obedience to a court’s stand on the position of National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the party said that there will be no election for the position of National Secretary of the party during the August 31 special convention of the party to fill the vacant positions in the national body of the party, while another order of a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt restraining the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), and the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), from recognizing Tony Nwoye as the party’s candidate for Anambra State Governorship Election was blatantly  ignored by the party.

The National Chairman of the special convention, Professor Jerry Gana had said that the decision not to conduct election into the office of the national secretary of the party is purely in obedience to the rule of law, adding that an election cannot be conducted for the position because the case is still in court.

Why then would the PDP leadership be selective in their choice of court orders to obey? Why does the leadership of the PDP want to draw us back to the era of ‘God-fatherisim’ in Anambra State?

We have gone beyond the era of godfathers and let it be known that we shall use all available legitimate means to resist this illegality in Anambra state PDP!

We call on the great people of Anambra State to stand on the side of law and justice and demand that rule of law be observed in the crisis bedeviling the PDP in Anambra State.

This is a democracy and the voice of the people is the voice of God!

We heartily congratulate Distinguished Senator Andy Uba on his election as the PDP gubernatorial candidate for the November 16, 2013 Anambra Governorship elections.

We shall overcome.
