News Release: Co-Ordinated Media Attacks On Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu

Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu

The office of the speaker, Imo state House of Assembly has received with shock, deliberate, clandestine and hyper-co-ordinated media sponsored attacks targeted at the person and office of the speaker, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu.
It is however regrettable that this orchestrated grand plot is to blackmail and use the media, which remains the sole conscience and heartbeat of the society to undermine the towering political profile of the Honourable speaker, with the malicious aims of discrediting the speaker, portraying him as  corrupt.
It should be noted that these misguided elements and mischief makers, have been uncovered to have perfected concrete plans to set the Honourable speaker against the good people of Imo State, and as well truncate the relative peace which currently pervades the state.
Part of their devilish plans includes, concocting lies and launching of unsubstantiated corrupt allegations with the sheer intents of smearing the hard earned reputation of the Honourable speaker. Others include, sponsoring of divisive messages and write ups with the grandstanding aim of causing dissatisfaction among the united and peaceful members of the state House of Assembly.
It is in the light of this that Imolites are advised to be wary of the demeaning activities of these shenanigans whose uncompromising aim is to stock political crisis in the state in a bid to achieve their inordinate ambitions.
More so, Journalists and indeed, media houses in Imo state are advised to shun unprofessional tendencies being used by these self-centered politicians who can defy every odds of moral rectitude to occupy political positions at all cost.
Furthermore, as members of the fourth estate of the realm, Journalists should equally see themselves as catalysts for national unity and cohesion, while maintaining a high sense of professional decorum in the discharge of their core conventional duties of informing, educating and entertaining the good people of the state.
Even as the 2015 general elections gathers momentum, the media are encouraged to ensure strict adherence to the professed ethics of their chosen career, which spans through objectivity, truth, fairness and balance.
To stem this tide of perceived unprofessional conduct, the speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Honourable Benjamin Uwajumogu, hereby urge Journalists in the country to strive and live up to their calling through the proper conduct of investigations to ascertain the authenticity of their reports.
Against this background, however, issues relating to the activities of the speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly could be accurately verified through the office of the Senior Special Assistant (Media) to the speaker to obtain the needed clarifications.
