The Nigerian Presidential spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati has
assured Nigerians that the President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is safe
following an attempted jailbreak by detained members of Boko Haram at the State Security Service (SSS)
headquarters near the Presidential Villa this morning in which about 18
detainees lost their lives.
In a short statement released this afternoon, Dr. Abati said
that what happened at the SSS headquarters this morning has nothing to do with
the Presidential Villa and that the President is safe. He concluded the
statement by thanking Nigerians for their concern and support.
