Poem: The Mad Man And Swagger Of The Mujahidin

By Chidi Anthony Opara

In modern attire of war
The mad man mimics
Swagger of the mujahidin,
Abhorrence for modernity,
More mullahs murmur approval.

Captured college maidens
The chant of the captured,
The prophet stirs,
Sighs in Hades.

The sovereign sleeps,
The snores add
To the stridency of insecurity.

The cocks cease to crow.
The dark clouds
Darken the sun
And the moon
And darken
The twinkle of the stars.

Torn flesh litter,
The flow of blood blights.

The mad man mimics
Swagger of the mujahidin.
The sovereign wakes,
Muttering feeble threats.
