News Release: Buhari’s Media Chat & His Pronouncement Of Death On Constitutionalism & Rule Of Law In Nigeria

Anarchy looms when chief law compliant becomes chief law breaker under a democratic dispensation. The Federation of Nigeria under Muhammadu Buhari is both in danger and endangered. Though President Muhammadu Buhari’s open and brazen contempt for constitutionalism and rule of law during his last night’s maiden presidential chat is condemned by all and sundry; but his courage to declare same openly is commendable. Nigerians and members of the international community are now fully aware that President Muhammadu Buhari is the chief law breaker and chief enemy of constitutionalism and rule of law in Nigeria.

News Re;ease: When Falsehood & Propaganda Become The Official Policy Of Government In Nigeria

For the purpose of ensuring total compliance and strict adherence to Fundamental Objectives & Directive Principles of the State Policy, contained in the Chapter Two (Sections 13-24) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended; Section 22 of the same Constitution morally charged  “the press; radio, television and other agencies of the mass media to at all times be free to uphold the fundamental objectives contained in this Chapter and uphold the responsibility and accountability of the Government to the people”. Section 13 of the same Constitution superbly provides that “it shall be the duty and responsibility of all organs of Government, and of all authorities and persons, exercising legislative, executive or judicial powers, to conform to, observe and apply the provisions of this Chapter of this Constitution”. The Fundamental Objectives & Directive Principles of the State Policy is Nigeria’s version of the Social Contract between the people (ethnic nationalities) of Nigeria and the public office holders (elected and appointed); totaling 17,500. The Constitutional Oaths of Office & Allegiance for public office holders in the country is fundamentally laid on Fundamental Objectives & Directive Principles of the State Policy.

Rejoinder: Lies Of The Nigerian Military

By Ibrahim Abubakar Difa

In the first rejoinder, the weakness, hollowness, emptiness and bankruptcy of what I characterized as the “Ambush” or “Assassination” “Theory”, which was expounded by the Nigerian Military to justify its brutal crackdown on the Islamic Movement in Nigeria led by Maulana Sayyid Ibrahim Yaqoub Zakzaky, had been clearly explained. Accordingly, when the “theory” looks stupid and could only be believed by the shallow, blind-hearted and retarded minds, when it woefully failed to convince the general public particularly the objective and the broad-minded, when it was unsuccessful in generating the desired result of appealing to public sentiments, when it flopped in deceiving, misleading and manipulating the peoples emotion; the Military was, in this circumstance, tremendously compelled to come-up with another “logic” in its desperate attempt at providing a cover to its criminality. The new “logic” is what I referred to as the “Road Block Theory”. In this “theory”, the spokesman of the Nigerian Army, a certain Colonel Sani Kuka Sheka, accused the Islamic Movement in Nigeria of “Road Blockage”. The Officer, as could be inferred from his press statement, which was broadcast by the BBC Hausa Service, was not only particular about the alleged obstruction of the COAS’s convoy, but a general “Road Blockage” whenever the Movement conducts an activity. This, as could be deduced from the statement, causes a lot of inconveniences to the people in Zaria, adding, inferably that the rights of members of the Movement to religious and social activities, does not nullify the rights of other citizens to free movement.

News Release: Hausa-Fulani Soldiers On Rampage Against Igbo & South-south Xmas Returnees Using Pro Biafran Peaceful Protests As Cover

Carefully planned war-like events going on at the Onitsha Niger Bridgehead have clearly revealed that the Hausa-Fulani segment of the Nigerian Army have declared a Second Civil War against the Igbo Ethnic Nationality of Nigeria and their South-south counterparts; particularly millions of Xmas returnees. Their sacred rights to ancestral homeland and ethnic identity are under intense threat. It is historically unheard of that a people of innocent background and character, returning to their ancestral homes for special seasonal feast like Xmas; are blocked and made to suffer and suffocate few miles to their ancestral homes. In the instant case, new born children and their nursing mothers as well as elderly people and children, etc are made to undergo excruciating pains and hardships with many sleeping inside their vehicles and by bush sides. Perishable food and domestic items worth millions of naira are also lost.

News Release: Exposing Buhari’s Iron Bars of Prison, Butchery & Lawlessness in Nigeria

The leadership of International Society for Civil liberties & the Rule of Law (intersociety) has observed the full return of iron bars of prison and executive butchery and lawlessness in Nigeria. It is disheartening to observe a situation where a State that ought to protect and preserve the lives of its innocent citizens at all times, systematically turns around to be the murderer of its own innocent citizens under no iota of legal breaches and devaluation of any sacred social codes. Also calamitous is where a State that ought to protect the constitution and the rule of law by being law-compliant at all times; becomes an unrepentant breaker of the same ground norm and judicial conventions.

News Release: From Change To Chains

President Buhari

The Xmas Message delivered today by Presidential Speech Writers, on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, is a collective insult to all Nigerians. The message, titled: “No Group Will Hold Nigeria to Ransom Again”… is also self-indicted because Nigeria is being held to ransom by the Presidency of Muhammadu Buhari; and not the other way round. A Nigerian Facebook blogger recently stated that “Buhari/APC shouted chain and Nigerians thought the shouters said change”. That is to say that Nigerians are dictatorially captive; following the shout of “chains”, which they took to be “change”. The country’s military had also boasted recently that “it must maintain one united Nigeria by fire by force”.

A Victim

I maintain that protest is an important democratic component of freedom of expression and freedom to assemble. Protest is an inalienable right of the human person. It starts from the womb. Babies kick inside the womb thereby expressing the desire to come out: inherent sense of liberty. When babies are delivered, they come out crying. This is as a result of the new environment. This is life! The Federal Government should prosecute all security personnel involved in the recent killing of protesters and reckless shooting of the protesters (in Onitsha). Let the protesters that come in conflict with the law, for example, if any loots, be dealt with under the due process (of) law; not killing. The criminal intention of the security personnel becomes obvious when the protesters are not armed and are non-violent. Some security personnel kill on ground of hate camouflaged as threat to security. This is one important reason the Federal Government should always make security personnel account for killing of protesters, regardless of the cause. You don't kill a fellow citizen who is not armed for expressing himself or herself”. (Uche Wisdom Durueke, Esq., President Civil Liberties Organization, Nigeria (December 4th 2015).

News Release: Saving Anambra State From Governance Of Legacy Destruction & Indebtedness (1)

The leaderships of International Society for Civil Liberties & the Rule of Law (Intersociety) and Anambra State Branch of the Civil Liberties Organization (CLO) have resolved to call on the Government of Anambra State under His Excellency, Mr. Willie Obiano to concentrate on governance of the State and pay warm and friendly attention henceforth to the good private and public affairs and conducts of his predecessor, His Excellency, Mr. Gregory Peter Obi. Former Governor Peter Obi and his towering legacy in the State should be celebrated at all times and not vitriolic attacks and vilification he undergoes presently in the hands of those he labored so much to establish for the purpose of moving the State further to enviable heights. The Obiano administration must also restrain itself from sinking the State into serial indebtedness and resist returning same to the dark era of fiscal enslavement and governance without clear and development oriented policy direction. The Governor is further advised to relief any of his aides, including media aides; attracting negative image to his Government or directly or indirectly making his administration to lose focus of governing the State;  of their duties.
