The National Executive of the Labour Party has expressed
Sadness at the news of the sudden death of the Borno State deputy governor,
Zannah Mustapha.
A statement issued and signed by the National Chairman
Comrade Alhaji A. A. Salam, Baraden Paiko and Barr. Kayode Ajulo National
Secretary on Saturday at Abuja stated that the Labour Party received the news
with shock, and “stands with the entire state in this time of grief”.
“The Labour Party hereby expresses shock and much sadness at
the news of the demise of the Borno State deputy governor, Zannah Mustapha. Our
hearts are with the family of the deceased, the government and the entire
people of Borno State,” the statement read.
The party expressed condolences to the Executive Governor of
Borno State, Hon. Kashim Shettima and the family of the deceased and the
general public, further stating: “There are times when the unexpected happens;
at such times one can only lean on the omniscience of the Creator.
“With total submission to the will of Allah, one is able to
weather every storm. Borno State has
particularly being buffeted by several travails such as the insurgency, and it
is the submission to Allah’s will that has aided them in rising above that
storm. This sudden event is just as shocking and we trust that the Almighty
will comfort the state in this trying times and strengthen their spirits to
bear the loss,” the party stated.
A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Usman
Jidda Shuwa, said Mr. Mustapha died in his sleep Saturday morning while
visiting Yola, the Adamawa State capital, to attend the convocation ceremony of
Modibbo Adama University of Science and Technology, Yola.
