|Thanksgiving Church Service To End Protest|
The arrival of construction equipments on Sunday signaled the end of a seven-day protest embarked upon by Youths of Eleme Local Government Area Of Rivers State Nigeria to protest the deplorable condition of the Port Harcourt Onne road which passes through Eleme.
The Youths had in protest blocked the road leading to Onne Seaport, Port Harcourt refinery and other high value companies and parastatals.
The Minister in charge of the Niger Delta Ministry, Senator Godswill Akpabio had intervened by announcing the release of the sum of 2.6 billion naira and ordered the contracting firm to mobilize to site last Friday.
The Youths however refused to end the Protest except they see construction equipments on the site.
We can confirm that construction equipments arrived the site today. We can also confirm that a thanksgiving church service to end the protest was held earlier today. We cannot however confirm if the road blockades have been cleared at the time of writing this report.
