News Report: Nigeria's Ruling Party Chairman Announced Senate President As Party's Consensus Presidential Candidate "In Consultation With President"

Sources monitoring the Nigeria ruling party's National Congress in Abuja informed that the party's National Chairman, Senator Abdulahi Adamu earlier today announced Dr. Ahmed Lawan, Nigeria's Senate President and a presidential aspirant as the party's consensus candidate.

Chairman Adamu was said to have made the announcement at the party's National Working Committee meeting, claiming that the decision was taken "in consultation with the President".

It was also gathered that in spite of the announcement, other contestants would still be allowed to contest the primary election tomorrow.

The party's Northern governors have however rejected the Announced consensus candidate.
